On Friday afternoon May 7th, 2010, many shoppers were out and about enjoying the sunshine, unaware of what was to happen next in the Aldi car park as it became a death trap.

Eye witness Jane Hatton said

”I saw this car mount a high raised curb then up a path into the car park.  He was about mid 50′s driving a 59′ plate so a new car, then drove into a women pinned her up her own car. Her shopping trolly full of food went every where and trolley fell apart.

As he reversed he then drove into another car damaging that but nobody was in it.

I was really scared unsure where he was going to go next as my car was near by. It left me very shaken and couldn’t drive away had to sit in car to calm down, couldn’t believe what i just saw”

Tamworth police were soon on the scene as well as paramedics.

The women injured was in her late 40′s very shaken up and injured her elbow and knee.  She told me

”It could have been much worse so i’m thankful to be alive and only have the injurys i do.”

The driver of the car told the women he could have killed her, stating he was sorry and saying that the new car was the reason for the incident.
